No I don't see any relationship. As stated earlier noone owns the banks. They are controlled by the game itself. Therefore no player can influence the way the banks works.

Regarding the "several banks" option we already have to get the "one bank option" up and running. It is complex enough. So it isn't appropriate to think of several already.

What I mean't to say before was; Why only 1 bank, wouldn't there be a few out there.

A cool dynamic is having a few different Banks and choosing a certain one to have a branch on your planets. If, say, some had more interest (but that goes for both loans and bank accounts) and you had to pay a bigger fee if your friend was mainly with another bank.

That could be dumb but I dunno...

You can't see the relationship? Just look at a company bully others threaterning to 'pull' the investments... But I guess they have a monopoly on the market...

I don't see any relationship between the fact that an alliance has a huge amount of saved cash and its influence on others.

Loans are offered by an independent banking facility. Banks built by players on planets merely serve as branch offices for this banking facility. Having lot of them doesn't bring any influence on the way the bank is run. The player is merely a client of the bank. Therefore it's not up to an alliance to decide who should receive a loan or not.

If one alliance controls say... 40% of all banks, surely they should have some 'shareholders' stake. I mean, if I controlled 40% of the banks, I would be telling the guys who we are at war with, who control 7% of the banks to die (and not borrow any cash!)

When we give figures, it's usually a first rough estimate. It has to be tested in order to define a final value.

I think the 20% tax is too much, maybe 10%?
